Living Profit and Individual Profit

Living Profit and Individual Profit highlights how our daily choices such as what we eat, how we move, what we consume, create personal joy and health while also building cleaner, stronger, and more sustainable communities.

Discover you ecological footprint

The way we live – from what we eat to how we travel – has a direct and lasting impact on the planet. Every daily choice influences how much we demand from nature, and together these choices determine whether we live within the Earth’s limits or exceed them. The Ecological Footprint Calculator gives you a clear picture of how your lifestyle connects to the bigger story of global sustainability.

By taking the test, you don’t just learn about your own impact—you also discover how individual actions, when multiplied across millions of people, shape societies and cities. This perspective makes it easier to see how personal responsibility links to collective well-being. It highlights that living more sustainably is not only about reducing your footprint, but also about creating healthier communities, greater resilience, and more balanced use of the planet’s resources.

The results offer an opportunity for reflection: where are you already making a positive difference, and where might small changes bring even greater benefits? In this way, the calculator becomes more than just a tool for numbers—it is a starting point for meaningful lifestyle choices that bring joy, integrity, and long-term value to both you and the world around you.

How the Test Works

The calculator asks you simple questions about your lifestyle – such as diet, transportation, housing, and consumption. Based on your answers, it estimates how many resources you use and translates this into your personal ecological footprint. The result shows how many Earths would be needed if everyone lived like you, and the exact date of your Overshoot Day.

Community and belonging

Alignment with values

Living sustainably brings joy because actions (like reducing waste, cycling, gardening, choosing fair-trade goods) align with one’s care for people and planet. This coherence nurtures a sense of meaning

Connection with life

Community and belonging

Alignment with values

Sustainable living fosters deeper relationships with nature (gardening, being outdoors, eating seasonally), which research shows boosts mood and well-being.

Choosing sustainable paths often creates community (farmers markets, co-ops, sharing economies), and belonging is a strong source of joy.

sustainable choices often translate into healthier lives—more plant-based eating, active transport (walking, biking), reduced exposure to pollutants.

Acting in ways that reduce ecological harm relieves eco-anxiety. Instead of feeling helpless about climate change, people feel they are part of the solution.

Resilience

Resilience

Sustainable lifestyles (like eating less processed food, consuming mindfully, and cultivating local sources) build personal and community resilience, which strengthens both physical and emotional health.

Agency

Empowered action

Ownership of future

Empowered action

In a world where global problems can feel overwhelming, sustainable living restores a sense of control. Small acts—composting, repairing instead of discarding, choosing ethical products—are daily affirmations of agency.

Shaping systems

Ownership of future

Empowered action

When people live sustainably, they influence markets and policies. Consumer demand for sustainable goods has already shifted industries. This demonstrates that individual choices aggregate into systemic change, amplifying a sense of efficacy.

Ownership of future

Agency is about having a say in one’s future. Living sustainably expresses that we’re not passive victims of ecological decline—we can help steer toward a more livable world.

Integrity

Wholeness of self

Legacy & responsibility

Wholeness of self

Integrity means living in line with one’s values. For many, knowing the ecological and social consequences of consumption makes it impossible to feel at peace if actions contradict values. Sustainable living closes that gap.

Moral coherence

Legacy & responsibility

Wholeness of self

Acting sustainably affirms a person’s ethical commitments to fairness, justice, and stewardship of life. That coherence deepens trust in oneself and from others.

Legacy & responsibility

Integrity also includes responsibility to future generations. Living sustainably ensures that one’s actions aren’t extracting joy from the future to satisfy the present.

Sustainable cities begin with conscious living. Each meal, journey, and purchase helps. Lasting change grows from small, consistent actions that strengthen communities and collective well-being. The aim is not only to act sustainably, but to make sustainability a natural part of who we are.
